Is our cat telling us its his time to go?

About 4 years ago, out family picked out an adult, grey cat from the shelter. he was estimated to be about 8-11 years old. Recently, he's been meowing a lot and acting really weird. He has never really had an interest in the upstairs, but recently he's been going up to my room late at night and meowing innocently. One family member told us that her cat did that before he died. Is my cat Harry trying to tell us something???
